VERBATIM Printable blank Blu-ray discs M-DISC-BD-R 25GB 4X 5 UDS 43823 1170909

The advent of Blu-ray technology has led to the introduction of high-capacity storage discs to meet the demand created by the rapid growth of high-definition television (HDTV). Blu-ray discs are named after blue laser technology. The laser has a shorter wavelength, which is why it is blue. The blue laser has a wavelength of 405 nm, compared with the 650 nm wavelength of DVDs, which use red laser technology. The advantage of a blue laser with a shorter wavelength is that it can write smaller data pits, thereby greatly increasing the amount of data on the disc.
