The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 series consists of high-quality USB flash drives that provide enterprise-grade security with FIPS 197-certified 256-bit AES hardware encryption in XTS mode, including BadUSB protection through digitally signed firmware and protection against brute-force password attacks. The VP50 series is also TAA-compliant. Because this is encrypted storage under the user's physical control, the VP50 series offers much better data protection than the Internet or cloud services. Vault Privacy 50 supports multiple password options (administrator, user and one-time recovery) with complex or passphrase modes. This makes it easy to restore access to data if one of the passwords is forgotten. The traditional complex mode allows passwords of 6 to 16 characters using 3 of the 4 character sets. The new passphrase mode allows a numeric PIN, a sentence, a list of words or even text ranging from 10 to 64 characters. The administrator can enable a user password and a one-time recovery password, or reset the user password to restore access to data. To make entering your password easier, the “eye” icon can be enabled to display the password you enter, meaning fewer typos and therefore fewer failed login attempts. Brute-force attack protection locks user or one-time recovery passwords after 10 consecutive invalid passwords have been entered and erases the USB drive after 10 consecutive incorrect entries. To protect against potential malware on untrusted systems, both the administrator and the user can configure read-only mode so that the drive is read-only. In addition, the built-in virtual keyboard protects passwords from keyloggers or screen recorders. Businesses can customize VP50 series FIPS 197-certified, TAA-compliant USB flash drives for integration with standard endpoint management software using a product ID (PID), and configure them to meet the company's IT and cybersecurity requirements through Kingston's customization program. Small and medium-sized businesses can use the administrator role to manage their drives locally, such as setting or resetting employees' user or one-time recovery passwords, restoring access to data on locked drives, and complying with laws and regulations when forensic analysis is required.
