Three-phase motor design While most axial fans use single-phase motors with 4 slots, Noctua's industrialPPC fans feature a three-phase, 6-slot design, which provides a smoother transition between slots and thus enables even smoother, quieter operation, reduced vibration and unprecedented energy efficiency. Improved energy efficiency While the standard NF-A14 is one of the most efficient 140 mm, 1500 rpm fans, the industrialPPC version with its three-phase motor offers a further 10% reduction in power consumption compared with the 2000 rpm version. Glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide construction Both the rotor and frame of Noctua's industrialPPC fans are made entirely of glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide. This makes the fans even more robust and resistant than standard glass-fibre-reinforced PBT fans. Certified IP52 water and dust protection Thanks to a special coating covering the motor and printed circuit board (PCB), the NF-A14 industrialPPC has an IP52 protection rating. This means it is not only highly resistant to dust, but also resistant to water droplets, equivalent to 3 mm of precipitation per minute. Flow Acceleration Channels The NF-A14 rotor features Flow Acceleration Channels on the suction side. By increasing airflow velocity in the crucial outer regions of the blades, this measure reduces flow separation on the suction side, resulting in greater efficiency and lower vortex noise. AAO frame Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads, as well as the stepped inlet design and internal surface microstructures (both Noctua proprietary technologies), which further optimise the fan's acoustic efficiency and performance. Stepped inlet design Noctua's stepped inlet design adds turbulence at the air inlet to facilitate the transition from laminar to turbulent flow, reducing tonal inlet noise, improving flow attachment and increasing suction capacity, especially in space-constrained environments. Internal surface microstructures As the fan blade tips interact with the boundary layer created by the internal surface microstructures, flow separation from the suction side of the blades is significantly reduced, resulting in lower blade-passing noise, improved airflow and greater pressure efficiency. Integrated anti-vibration pads The integrated anti-vibration pads, made of extra-soft silicone, minimise the transmission of even the smallest vibrations while maintaining compatibility with all standard mounting systems and fan clips used on heatsinks. SSO2 bearings The NF-A14 industrialPPC features the second, further optimised generation of Noctua's renowned and efficient SSO bearings. With SSO2, the rear magnet is positioned closer to the axis to provide improved stability, precision and durability. Metal bearing To ensure the highest possible manufacturing precision, minimal tolerance and excellent long-term stability, the NF-A14 industrialPPC features a CNC-milled bearing made entirely of brass. Custom-designed PWM IC with SCD Providing fully automatic PWM speed control, the NF-A14 industrialPPC uses the NE-FD2 PWM IC, specially designed by Noctua for three-phase motors. The NE-FD2 integrates Noctua's patented Smooth Commutation Drive (SCD) technology, which suppresses PWM switching noise and therefore makes the fan quieter at lower speeds. 6-year manufacturer's warranty Noctua fans are known for their impeccable quality and long service life.
