The converter enables communication between computers and serial devices that support the RS-485 serial interface standard. The adapter converts RS-232 signals to the RS-485 standard, thus allowing the extension of distance from 5 meters (RS-232 side) to 1,200 meters (RS-485 side). The converter does not require an external power supply. The use of a patented RS-232 chipset eliminates the need to initialize the RS-232 interface. The integrated transceiver allows for instant use and automatic detection of the data transfer direction from the I/O ports. The detection does not require handshake signals (RTS, DTR) and guarantees full compatibility for RS-232 semiduplex applications without changing the software. This means that no modifications to the software and hardware are required before using the device. The converter supports a serial transmission speed of 300 to 115,200 bps. The application area ranges from industrial systems to card reader systems, access systems, digital payment systems (toll, public buses, parking), and mechanical engineering applications.
